Deep Time Walk
THIS SUNDAY, ST PAUL’S, 19TH APRIL, 2-6PM
2-6pm: A guided 4.6km walk led by Mathilde Braddock around the local area that will take us back 4.6 billion years in time to the formation of the Earth. There are only 20 places available, so if you would like to join the walk, please email Adrian (adrianhowkins@hotmail.com).
You can also do it yourself on the Deep Time Walk App. Find out more info here.
Reunite: exploring self
THIS SUNDAY, 7PM
We’ll be reflecting on what it means to reunite with parts of yourself you’ve rejected in the past.
To inspire us we’ll watch Iris’ animation film, and then have lots of room for discussion and personal response.
Reflecting on Deep Time
NEXT SUNDAY, 7PM
We’ll be joined again by Mathilde Braddock who will lead us in a reflection on deep time, the way humans have affected the earth, and what we can do now as a community to care better for our natural world.
This should be a valuable and interesting service for those who didn’t come to the walk, and those who did, so come either way!
What goes up must come down
I’ve been absolutely spoilt this week to be working from Switzerland, surrounded by magnificent mountains.
We have a story in our culture that being successful means constantly making progress. Always be going up. But the thing about climbing a mountain - an amazing thing to do! - is that there is a necessary second part. Coming down.
And you can’t climb another mountain until you’ve come down from the first one. And probably had a lie down, and a snack, too.
Sometimes in life, we are going up the mountain. Sometimes we are coming down. Both are necessary to enjoy the views.
So when you look at where you are in the story of your life, remember that sometimes to climb the next mountain, you might need a period of rest, a snack, and to go down a little too. It’s all part of the journey.
Be gentle with yourselves on the descent, and I’ll see you on Sunday.
Love,
Andy
